Two Days to go.

Only two days away now. Preparations are still underway. Sue’s been packing bags, I’m out in Ortonville getting the Chickens and Babe set.

Many of you know about our new involvement with Chickens. Back in April we received our first set of Chickens, Exotic layers. Out of the original 26, we still have 23 of these. Two weeks ago we got a second batch of 26 (25 remaining), these being meat producers.

The last few weeks I have been working on a new Permanent Coop and Run for the layers. The Coop was a group project including Barnum and Becky from Barnum MN. It’s close enough to being done that what’s left can be finished when we get back. The chickens really like the new space.

Nothing though is done out at the “Farm” in Ortonville, without Pat and Liz Ketz. They also helped on the Coop and run, and will also be our Chicken caretakers while we are on our trip.

Babe will be heading to my cousin Mark’s for the duration of our trip. It’ll be a bit of a shock for the old boy (he’s 13) as Sue has converted him into a house dog and he’ll be staying in a kennel at my cousins.

Lucy, Sue’s princess of a Golden Lab cross will be staying with Sue’s folks during our trip.

More tomorrow.
